PS3

This is my first post, so why not make a sort of a review on it. Its a nice console with lost of good features, the firmware uses the same type of XMB as the PSP but with a few more icons. The PS3 has a HDMI port along with a AV Multi port, the HDMI port can output a video quality of up to 1080p. One of the features that I like most is the ability to play media files from a media server over a network. This works great if you upgraded to windows vista that acts as a media server. You can also play media off of a USB storage device or using one of the memory card readers. The internet browser lets you view sites on your TV but the browser tends to be slow at times. With remote play you get to use your PS3 threw your PSP over the wireless network but there isn’t that much you can do with it because most of the games aren’t remote play compatible. There is a friends button on the XMB so you can keep in touch with all your friends that have a PS3 and not a Xbox 360. The messaging system works well but typing with the controller is quite slow, good thing that it has support for USB or Bluetooth keyboards and mice. If you like homebrew the PS3 can run Linux and there are lots of homebrew apps out there for a PS3 running Linux. If you have any PS2 games that don’t work because of scratches you should try them on your PS3 because it seems like the PS3 is less sensitive to scratches on a DVD that PS2. I know this because I have 2 heavily damaged copies of Grand Theft Auto 3 that freeze within 5 minutes of playing on a PS2, I tried one of the copies on my PS3 and it worked just fine so now I can finally enjoy the game like I should. So all in all its a great console, it might be lacking in games compared to the Xbox 360 but the Xbox has been out almost a year longer than the PS3. So I do recommend buying a PS3 for anyone who can afford its $599 price tag (80Gb version) or $499 (40Gb version).
